Tygerberg Model Flying Club is situated in the Western Cape near Cape Town just
outside Durbanville on the R304 towards Stellenbosch. The Club is a member
of the South African Modellers Association which in turn is affiliated to the
Aero club of
South Africa which is affiliated to the Federation Aeronautical
International, the controlling body for all aero sport in the world.
The aim of the Tygerberg Model Flying Club is to promote radio control model
flying which falls into two categories, namely fun fly and competitive flying.
Competition flying as a sport can also be divided into different categories
namely Aerobatics, Large Scale Aerobatics, replica scale , Pylon Racing,
helicopters
and gliding.
Tygerberg Model Flying Club provides its members with the necessary facilities
for the training of novice pilots, development of the sport and safe flying.
Most of the flying takes place over weekends, weather permitting.
